Head of Gazprom Aleksey Miller this week met with French President Nicolas Sarkozy in Paris. High on the agenda was the Shtokman field in the Barents Sea.
President Sarkozy received the powerful Russian company leader in his premises in Paris.

Both parts expressed satisfaction with the development of bilateral relations within the energy sector, a press release from Gazprom reads.

-Continued close cooperation between Gazprom and French companies is a key factor in securing stable energy supplies to Europe, Miller and Sarkozy agreed.

French national energy interests in Russia are on the increase as French companies step up cooperation with Russian partners. French energy major Total last summer secured a 25 percent stake in the Shtokman project in the Barents Sea.
