"Rosneft" company plans to supply shelf projects by organizing resting coastal base at the premises of 82th shipyard, building factories to produce underwater fittings, concrete bricks, helicopter airdrome (for several dozens of units), logistics base, staging area and storage. The Government of the Murmansk region together with "Rosneft" company are going to create Center of Arctic Competence on the base of Murmansk State Technical University.

Marina Kovtun, provisional Governor of the Murmansk region, told about this after working meeting with Igor Sechin, Chairman of the Board of "NC "Rosneft" who had arrived in Murmansk to get acquainted with all areas for location if industrial capacities.

Marina Kovtun: "Water area of the Kola Bay and its coasts will become the main base for developing the Arctic shelf. It demands quite big amount of workers and we are able to realize this". She also added that “Rosneft” had already possessed the financing support for implementation of those projects.

Creation of resting coastal base will demand not only current workers but also 2, 000 more. Working places will be available in 5 years, in most cases, for inhabitants of Murmansk region.

Igor Sechin: "Such extensive realization of projects gives possibilities for economic strength of the whole region. Moreover, it is an important factor for development of all allied sectors. We understand our responsibility, project importance both for this particular region and for this country".

"Rosneft" has already started preparing works for prospecting drilling works in the Kara Sea. According to the plans, first borehole will be done in the August.
