The Government of Murmansk region and Rogaland County are going to continue their mutual cooperation. Oil and gas industry is one of the main vectors.
This agreement has been done during the business meeting between Alexey Tyukavin, Vice-Governor of Murmansk region, and Terje Halleland, Vice-Governor of Rogaland County. This meeting was made under business mission of Murmansk region to the capital of Kingdom Norway (Oslo).
Our border region has got rather strong connection with other counties (Finnmark and Tromsø) – we have been cooperating more than 25 years, but Rogaland is the real new business partner with only 3 years of cooperation experience. Both sides noticed mutual profit and effectiveness of that particular cooperation.
Alexey Tyukavin underlained that experience of Rogaland County would be quite useful for developing oil and gas industry in Murmansk region. He added that decision to postpone development of Shtokman field did not influence development of the Barents and Kara Seas and it proved that Murmansk region needed supply bases for Arctic shelf works. “Offshore development is made by such companies as Rosneft and Gazpromneft, our experts are interested to participate in such projects a lot”, said Vice-Governor of Murmansk region.
According to Terje Halleland, Rogaland County hopes these projects will provide economic advance for Murmansk region. Parties discussed concrete aspects of oil and gas infrastructure functioning. Alexey Tyukavin noticed that it was important to keep environmental balance, so fishing industry and oil and gas industry would exist without mixing.
These important issues and some other things will be included to the Protocol about Intentions of Cooperation between Murmansk region and Rogaland County.
