  • Nonprofit organization “Association of Suppliers for Oil and Gas Industry “Murmanshelf” invites you to participate in the 7th International Conference «ARCTIC DEVELOPMENT: STEP BY STEP». The Conference will take place in Murmansk on the 18th – 19th of November, 2014 supported by the Government of the Murmansk Region in the framework of the III Murmansk International Business Week.

Vice Governor of the Murmansk region Grigory Stratiy reported at the 7th Kirkenes conference. The main topic of the conference was issues of developing northern regions.

This year Kirkenes met more than 270 representatives from political, public, scientific and business spheres from Norway, Russia, Sweden and Finland.

Opening speech to the participants of the conference was made by Jan Tore Sanner, Minister of Local Government and Modernization.
The topic of Vice Governor's speech was “Murmansk region is a region of sustainable development in the Arctic”. Grigory Stratiy mentioned that “the Government of Murmansk region consider Norwegian and Finnish borders to be a great advantage for the region as well as close Swedish border”.  He underlined that our neighbors and we had common history, economic and social projects, political and cultural dialogue.  

Grigory Stratiy spoke about measures which were taken by the Government for improving business climate, supporting investment activity and the biggest realized investment projects.
Investors’ support was the most interesting issue for foreign business community. Daniel Skjeldam, Director General of Hurtigruten – one of the biggest Norwegian tourism companies, attracted attention to the project “Artic Harbors”.  He noted that their company positively estimated offer of the Murmansk Government to prolong the regular routes of Norwegian cruise liners as an interesting tourism product.
