Russian gas major 'Novatek' signs major agreements with China’s biggest oil company 'CNPC' and the China Development Bank on the 'Yamal LNG project'.

The Steering and Working group meeting of the project ”Enhancement of Oil Spill Response System by Establishing Oil Database” (KO 437) implemented within the framework of the Kolarctic ENPI CBC Programme 2007-2013 was held in Tromsø, Norway, on 7 May.

Olga Buch, Director General of NPO “Association “Murmanshelf” held the meeting with business delegation from Port of Kemi (Finland). This delegation included Reijo Viitala, Executive Director of the port, members of the board, Captain of the ice-breaker “Sampo” and others.

Finnish representatives gave brief description of port infrastructure and its main economic factors, expressed their interest to cooperate with Association “Murmanshelf” for developing intermodal corridors and experience exchange.

Sides also discussed possible development of common projects under the programme of cross-border cooperation. Among other events, delegation visited Port of Murmansk and got acquainted with main port stevedore companies.

May, 17-18 – Second International Chess Championship BASAMRO in Murmansk, organized by BASAMRO Logistics Group with the support of the National Dutch Chess Federation.

April, 23 – the regular meeting of members of the Board of "Association "Murmanshelf" was held. It was attended by Grigory Stratiy, Olga Buch, Konstantin Vinogradov, Eugene Volkovich, Anatoly Glushkov, Oleg Erin, Vitaly Mezhenin.

April, 8th: Association “Murmanshelf” has organized and held the 4th international conference supported by the Government of Murmansk region. Co-organizers of the conference are Ministry of Transport and Road Facilities of Murmansk region, Committee for Development of Industry and Entrepreneurship of Murmansk region and Ministry of Economic Development of Murmansk region.  

The Government of Murmansk region and Rogaland County are going to continue their mutual cooperation. Oil and gas industry is one of the main vectors.

Representatives of regional business community have arrived to Oslo for introducing to their Norwegian colleagues renewed economic possibilities of Murmansk region and an opportunity to expand further cooperation.

March, 19 business delegation from Western Flanders met Olga Buch, Director General of Association “Murmanshelf”, Dmitry Sosnin, the Minister of Transport and Road Facilities of the Murmansk region, and Yury Korkonosov, Deputy Director of Agency for Energy Effectiveness of the Murmansk region. The business meeting took place at the office of Association “Murmanshelf”.

18th-19th of March – International seminar "Oil Spill Response – market opportunities in the North-West of Russia". 

The opening speech was made by Alexey Smirnov, the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Murmansk region. 

The company “Stroygazconsulting” has won the tender on detailed documentation and construction of complex development objects of Murmansk transport hub. According to tendering committee, the company is going to realize their project for 41, 5 billion rubles. Starting order sum (maximum) was 43 billion 491 million 699 thousand 27 rubles.

Statoil and co-venturer ExxonMobil today announce the results from their first drill stem test in the Tanzania Block 2 offshore discoveries.

The data acquired is important to reduce technical uncertainties in a possible future Tanzania offshore and LNG development.

An oil spill at 73 degrees north could reach the ice edge and the Bear Island within few days.
Norway is moving close to the Arctic ice edge in its new oil license round. The country is pushing the limits, environmentalists warn.

Oil nation Norway will in its upcoming license round offer blocks as far north as the Svalbard Fisheries Protection Zone and as far east as the Russian border.

The oil company intends to turn a local shipyard outside Murmansk into its center for Arctic shipbuilding.

"In the next few years Roslyakovo, the shipyard outside towntown Murmansk, will become a centerpiece in Rosneft’s Arctic shipbuilding efforts", - Dmitry Rogozin, Russian Deputy PM.

Vice Governor of the Murmansk region Grigory Stratiy reported at the 7th Kirkenes conference. The main topic of the conference was issues of developing northern regions.
