Today oil and gas development is widening as well as industry activity of the Arctic shelf in BEAR. Taking these facts into consideration, question of providing ecological safety appears including issues of realization of common environmental safety projects between Russian Federation and its partners. Administration of “Association “Murmanshelf” has created the Working group on the issues of providing ecological safety and international cooperation in the sphere of environmental protection while developing the Arctic shelf. Main purposes to create this group: - consolidating professional and administrative regional resources in the sphere of environmental safety; - the most effective utilization of the competence to settle issues in providing ecological safety within the Arctic shelf activity including international cooperation and common offers. Main objectives of the working group: - monitoring and harmonization of Russian and international normative legal base; - development and promotion of regional legislative initiative in the sphere of environmental protection in BEAR; - coordinating professional and administrative cooperation of regional resources initiative in the sphere of environmental protection; - development and support of regional, national and international projects focused on providing ecological safety on the Arctic shelf; - organization and coordination of practical cooperation with professional companies in countries-partners whose activity is directed to providing ecological safety on the Arctic shelf.
